What is Japanese Thermal Hair Straightening?
Japanese Thermal Hair Straightening, also called thermal reconditioning, is a chemical-plus-heat process that permanently re-shapes the internal bonds of the hair shaft. Unlike a relaxer or a smoothing treatment, the result is durable — the straightened sections do not revert as new hair grows out.
Our resident stylists use the Milbon Liscio system, the same product line used at Jade Salon of Atlanta. Liscio is widely considered one of the gentlest, most controllable Japanese straightening systems available, and it works on a wide range of hair textures including resistant, curly, and previously color-treated hair.
A typical session takes 3 to 5 hours depending on hair length and density. The result is sleek, smooth, low-maintenance hair that holds its shape through humidity, workouts, and daily styling.
